Pet Station

At the entrance of this supermarket, you now can park your pet here while you shop at the pet station. Unfortunately we neither take Fluffy for a walk nor a run at the park. Being a prey, rabbit might be attack by birds and cats. He gets his run round the sittingroom into the kitchen ending in the balcony.

BitterGourd On Steaming rice.

Braised pork ribs with bitter gourd was what I felt like eating when I saw the plump gourd at the vegetable stall this morning.
A kg of pork ribs marinate in a table spoon of chinese rice wine, a dash of soya sauce, sugar, pepper, dark soya sauce and a tablespoon of cornflour. Leave for at least 2 hours.
Pound a knob of ginger, a clove of garlic and a tablespoon of Yeo's yellow beans.
Heat 2Tb of oil then saute the pounded ingredients till fragrant then add the marinated ribs.
Brown the ribs, add the bittergourd. A quick stir before adding half a cup of water and turn the heat down. Braise till the ribs are tender.

This is what we're having for dinner tonight.

It's the roof

Amongst the highrise apartments, inconspicuous to many is this building with an unusual roof. Coming out of the orchard, cte tunnel towards AngMoKio I've spotted this many time but only until yesterday did I managed to snap this. I have not idea what this building is. Could this be a mosque?

Friday Evening

A quiet day a home as eldest recovers from her virulent bout of flu, youngest has gone out with her girlfriend for a well deserved outing to the malls. Son with dad to Ikea to pick up something for his room. It's been a trying week, eldest has been down with a burning fever for 5 days now. Son surprised me with a rare gesture. Touched. Youngest, showed her caring and responsible side. Taking over the task of caring and cleaning the pet's enclosure. Though the rabbit is clean and odourless, clearing the peed pellet potty is quite a task. My children, and I love them all, everyone of them.

FlyingBug N RunningNose

It's the last week before the school breaks for the mid term holidays. Thank goodness, for youngest is down. Down will the sore throat, running nose and cough. Two weeks into her clinical, eldest is also down. Down with the fever, aching joints, sore throat and wet nose. A flu bug in the air said the GP. According to the old wives tales, Chicken soup does wonder. And so we had ABC soup tonight. Potatoes, carrots, tomatoes and onion (in chicken stock)soup to be exact.
Youngest looking forward to the holidays as this means more band practice. More time for her to practice her trumpet, while eldest has another 3 weeks to go before she ends her 1st year. Son is now into his 2nd year in Poly and will not be having a break until the 3rd week of June. A window of opportunity then, for the whole family to take a short holiday together. Hmmmm......

Passing

Somehow, intuition tells me, it's going to be a wet and somber day tomorrow. The passing of a man who had tirelessly worked for the good of the common people. Dr Goh Keng Swee

The E tank

At a Parenting Talk last night, it dawned on me. It's the huge tank of E in the organic structure that I overlooked. I've forgotten to fill it up. Running the household, the new born, had left me worn and washed out at the end of each day. Overlooking his crucial growing up period.

heartstring

Youngest broke into tears when she discovered her new novel, which she bought with her pocket money, had little bite marks. While foraging around the house, Fluffy wandered into her bag. When questioned, she was upset because it was new and she bought with her own savings.
There and then, I wanted to tell her. It hurts the same way too when I see My own flesh and blood coming home with cuts and bruises. Taxing the digestive system with excessive junk food snacking.

Durianlicious

Youngest, son and eldest simply love this dessert. Sandwiched between the thin layers of sponge cake is the thick iced cold pure creamy durian pulp. It's like eating ice cream and cake in one sitting.

Leg Power

A rattan bicycle anyone? This caught my brother's attention in the states. Learnt cycling at the age of 10. Then there were no such thing as learners' wheels. It's 'just peddle hard and think about how to stop later'. During the school holidays, together with my girlfriend/neighbour, we would wake up early at 7am and cycle from Air Itam all the way to Gurney Drive to a much deserved breakfast. Roads were not choked with cars and Angsana trees lined the road. Just the two of us girls. No fancy protective headgears nor aerodynamic suit.
Have been thinking of getting a bike for some leisure cycle, when I read in the papers how much a bike might cost. Then, the possibility of being fined for cycling at the wrong place. The danger of being on the road. Still toying with the idea.

East Coast Road

Explored East Coast Road while running an errand and stumbled upon this quaint row of houses amongst the highrise apartments and malls.
