Overheard
"He actually baked his own birthday cake and brought along the plates and forks"
And what is wrong with that? I asked
One must make things happen
Not wait for things to happen
Seek happiness and contentment
Not wait to be sought out.
This young man has a bright future ahead of him.

Here's a saying I heard. There are basically 3 groups of people:
Those who make things happen,
Those who watch things happen,
And those who wonder what happened.
That special man obviously belongs to the first group.

In today's world of delegation and outsourcing, it's rare to find such people.
... but one can be (1), (2), or (3) at different times, or in different situations, ya?
... juggling the unending demands in the corporate world, i've realized that to make things happen, you don't have to be always you rolling up your sleeves. If it's faster and more efficient way to achive the end results by delegating or outsourcing, then you hafta learn to delegate. :)
You juz Flex your Influence to make things happen. :)

I think what I'm trying to drive at is that we are the master of our destiny. We can choose to whine about life, or choose to do something constructive about our lives. For instance, if I'm unhappy at what I'm doing at work despite being paid tonnes of money, I can request my boss for a transfer or look for another job, or waste my life away doing things I dun enjoy. It's really up to us whether we want to MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. Hee!
Chris & Pretzel:
The point here is we have to seek our own goals in life. No point sitting around hoping someone would remember to get you a birthday cake. Then gets really upset depressed when it does not happen. Make it happen. The way you want it.
